A compliant facade panel with expressed jointing system.
Product Details
Expertly designed for low-rise, high-rise, and commercial building facades, fascias, and soffits, the ExoTec® Façade Panel and System is a deemed-to-satisfy, non-combustible cladding solution. Aesthetically, ExoTec is a smooth sanded compressed fibre cement (CFC) façade panel that works with a top-hat system to create geometric designs with 10mm express joints.
The 9mm and 12mm thick panels are fully sealed on all sides to reduce panel expansion, moisture ingress, and edge damage — improving long-term performance in Perth's coastal and variable climate. The ExoTec System includes purpose-built aluminium top hats, trims, and reveal formers, giving architects and builders a complete, compliant façade system from a single source.

Best for ExoTec Façade™
- Multi-storey residential, commercial, and mixed-use buildings where non-combustibility is required
- Projects subject to NCC/BCA deemed-to-satisfy provisions for cladding
- BAL-rated zones where an assessed, compliant system is preferred over individual products
- Façades and soffits requiring large-format panels with clean expressed joints
- Architectural designs combining ExoTec with Matrix™ Cladding
Why ExoTec Is the Commercial Builder's Choice
Non-combustible compliance
ExoTec panels are non-combustible to AS 1530.1, making them suitable for use on Class 2–9 buildings where the NCC requires non-combustible external walls. This is increasingly critical for Perth builders following changes to cladding regulations after high-rise fire incidents around Australia.
Complete system, single supplier
The ExoTec system includes aluminium top hats, trims, corner solutions, and cavity detailing — giving specifiers a single point of responsibility and reducing coordination risk on site.
Sealed on all sides
Factory-sealed panel edges reduce moisture ingress and limit panel movement — a significant advantage in humid coastal environments like Perth's coastal suburbs.
Pair ExoTec with appropriate wall wrap and vapour control products to complete the moisture management system.
Selecting the Right ExoTec Panel
- 9mm panels — lighter weight, suited to facades with more frequent top-hat support points
- 12mm panels — additional rigidity for wider spans and soffits
- Consult the ExoTec installation guide for top-hat spacing based on your wind load zone (important for Perth coastal and Pilbara projects)
Installation Notes That Prevent Callbacks
- Follow the ExoTec system guide — do not substitute non-system top hats or trims
- All panel edges must be factory-sealed or site-sealed with approved sealant if cut
- Allow 10mm express joint consistently — do not close joints or allow panel-to-panel contact
- Confirm NCC compliance pathway with your certifier before installation commences

Is ExoTec Façade™ non-combustible? Can I use it on Class 2–9 buildings?
Yes — ExoTec panels are non-combustible to AS 1530.1 and the ExoTec Façade System is a deemed-to-satisfy solution under the NCC for Class 2–9 buildings. This means it meets the NCC requirements for non-combustible external wall cladding without requiring additional engineering assessment in most cases. Your building certifier will confirm the specific compliance pathway for your project type and jurisdiction. For residential cladding on Class 1 buildings, Axon™,
What makes ExoTec different from using standard compressed fibre cement sheet?
Unlike standard compressed fibre cement used as a general sheet, ExoTec is a purpose-engineered facade system — not just a panel. The key differences are: all four edges are factory-sealed to limit moisture absorption and panel movement; a purpose-designed aluminium top-hat framing system provides the express joint and structural support; and the complete system (panel + top hat + trims) has been tested and assessed as a unit, which is what gives it deemed-to-satisfy NCC status. This single-system approach reduces risk and simplifies the certifier's compliance check.
Can ExoTec be used for soffits as well as facade walls?
Yes — ExoTec is specifically designed for soffits, fascias, and facade walls. The 12mm panel is generally preferred for soffit applications because the additional thickness provides better rigidity across wider spans between top-hat support points. Factory-sealed edges are particularly important in soffit positions where moisture exposure from rain and condensation is more direct. Always confirm top-hat spacing for your specific soffit span with the ExoTec installation guide.
Do I still need wall wrap or sarking behind an ExoTec facade?
Yes — even though ExoTec panels are sealed and cavity-mounted, a compliant wall wrap is still required behind the system under NCC condensation management provisions. The wall wrap sits between the framing and the top-hat system and manages any moisture that enters the cavity. For BAL-rated projects, a fire-rated sarking may also be required — check with your certifier.
What wind load zones is ExoTec suitable for in Western Australia?
ExoTec is designed for a range of wind load conditions, including coastal and cyclonic regions. However, top-hat spacing must be adjusted based on your specific wind load zone classification — a project in the Perth metro coastal strip will have different requirements to one in Karratha or Broome. The ExoTec installation guide provides span tables for different wind zones. If you're working on a project in a high wind zone, contact our team for specification advice.
